New Patient Guide
Welcome to Dr. Jalli MD PC. This guide covers everything you need to know before your first visit — scheduling, insurance, what to bring, and what to expect.
📞 Call to Schedule: 301-686-8554Your first 5 steps
Getting started with a new primary care practice is easy. Here is what to expect.
- 📞STEP 1
Call to Schedule
Call our office Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM. Tell us you are a new patient. Please have your insurance card handy when you call. We'll help you book an appointment — often same-week or next-week — and explain what to expect before you arrive.
For emergencies, call 911. For urgent care needs after hours, visit your nearest urgent care center.
- 💳STEP 2
Insurance & coverage
We accept most major insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, CareFirst, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. During your scheduling call, we'll check that we participate with your plan and record your member information for the visit.
If you are unsure about your benefits or network status, call your insurance company using the number on the back of your card.
- 📝STEP 3
Complete Your Paperwork
We may send you new patient forms before your visit. Completing them ahead of time allows your appointment to start on schedule and your clinician to review your history.
If you did not receive forms before your visit, arrive 15 minutes early to complete them at the office.
- 🏥STEP 4
Attend Your First Visit
Your clinician will review your health history, discuss your concerns, perform any indicated exams, and work with you to create a personalized care plan.
First visits typically last 45–60 minutes. Please allow enough time in your schedule.
- 🖥️STEP 5
Access the Patient Portal
After your visit, you will receive an invitation to register with the AthenaHealth patient portal to view results, request refills, and message your care team.
Portal access is for non-urgent communication only. For urgent needs, always call the office.
What to bring
Having these items ready ensures your appointment stays on schedule.
- Valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport)
- Current insurance card (all plans, including secondary)
- Complete list of current medications — or bring the bottles
- Recent lab results, imaging reports, or specialist notes if available
